ISO: Brilliant strategists

In February, Mike and I had our 2020 leadership retreat to reflect on where Kepka House is going. We spent most of the day discussing where our creative interests continue to intersect, what sort of content we want to make together, and who we want to make it for. We also drank coffee, ate dumplings, and had a jam session on the theremin.

Here are the facts:

Our company doubled its full-service video production income this year (as we did the year before, signaling we're on the right track), but we were only creatively proud of a few projects (signaling we're at a crossroads between making money and getting bored). Mike's inspired by scripted content on a big scale, be they Netflix shows or Super Bowl Ads; I nerd out on organization change and want to produce an online comedy series.

Our big ideas are only as feasible as our daily practice, so we agreed on three key points for our workload in 2020. We are in search of:

1) Excitement

We want to partner with medium to large businesses who aren't afraid to take creative risks and whose purpose we're stoked about. Offhand, these include: craft beer, dogs, ethical travel, bicycles and innovation.

2) Maturity

We want to work with organizations who are smart enough to know the importance of investing in content strategists and production budgets and find themselves in need of consistent, quality content. As in, people who don't want to outsource all their marketing to a large agency (because they know what they're doing), but don't have a full-service in-house creative team (because they know that's not what they do).

3) Long-term

We want to build ongoing relationships with clients who value video is an integral part of building their brand. Our sweet spot is creating fast turn, high-quality, content for people who know how to use it and trust our expertise when it comes to vision and execution. It may seem like a simple litmus test, but in 2020, we want our work to be something we're proud of.

Do you know of any companies that want a video production partner like us? Let's start matchmaking.

Always,

x ace.
