10 things to know about us

1) We met while working at the San Francisco Chronicle as members of the News Video Analytics Lab.

We were tasked with experimenting with subject and style to drive revenue and viewership at a traditional newspaper (which we did). Amanda was a newbie on the analytics team and Mike was the star videographer. 

2) Our original business plan was written on a napkin.

We continue to takes notes by whatever means necessary when inspired.

3) We're filmmakers who tell doc style stories about people for brands.

And we've been doing it for a long time. Mike originated a series called City Exposed while working at the paper, and made a film about a quirky character each week for 20 years. Ace is an oral historian and writer that has produced documentary films all over the US and the world.

4) We’re pretty much opposites, and that’s what makes us work.

Mike thinks in pictures and Ace likes punctuation and Excel sheets. It's a good match. 

5) We’re funny.

We're professional and relaxed - it's a central part of why folks like working with us.

4) We’re based out of two offices - one in NYC and one in DC.

We also have a stable of contract workers from coast to coast helping us with lighting, sound, animation and more. 

3) We film in all sorts of circumstances.

This includes while rolling on electric skateboards, bikes, and wheelchairs.

2) We’re honest.

If your budget's too small - we’ll tell you. If it’s something we can do - we’ll tell you. If you don’t actually need a video - we’ll tell you.
